Dog Grooming Combs

How to select the right brush for your pet.

It is so very important to have the correct type of dog brush for grooming your precious pet, not only to make his or her coat look shiny and silky beautiful, but also for keeping its fur nice and healthy. The right type of brush is not only important for long-haired breeds of dogs, but for short-haired breeds as well, in order to remove excess hair (that would be shedded anyway) but to let the skin breathe. This is especially important in the heat of summer when the least bit of excess weight can make your pooch extremely uncomfortable. You certainly don’t want your puppy carry around an extra baggage. Now you can make sure that never happens.

A ‘pin’ brush, which is made of metal is perfect for pets with extra thick or ratted and tangled hair. Follow up with a brush called a ‘slicker’ brush, as you will get more of a thorough comb through with this, as the spacing between the teeth is tighter. Your pet deserves more than just a comb. After all, we all take pride in how we look. We even go out of our way to make sure each stand of hair is perfectly placed. Your canine deserves the same treatment. Take as much pride in his or her appearance as you do in yours and the results will be stunning. Give it a try and you’ll see for yourself.

Brushing your dog’s coat with a soft brush is like a wonderful, relaxing and soothing massage and will not only make your dog feel calm and relaxed, but will make his or her coat shiny and healthy. Using a stronger and harder bristle brush though, is the only way to get rid of tangles or debris from his or her coat. You can use a wire brush or a strong plastic one, but always make sure it’s strong enough to remove debris, ticks, fleas and tangles. There is nothing worse than not finishing the  completely. Take the time to get it right and you won’t regret it. The results will be worth it!

When choosing a dog brush, don’t go for ‘cheaper the better’ as that’s not the case. In order to make the grooming experience more enjoyable and pleasant for you and your dog, make sure you buy a quality brush, not a ‘bargain basement’ one. Like anything else, you get what you pay for. You probably spare no expense when you have yourself groomed at that expensive salon, so why short change your dog? Don’t want he or she to sparkle when you strut through the neighborhood? Of course you do.

The best way to keep your dog ‘tangle free’ is to, not only brush him or her after each bathing, but to brush daily for five minutes before bedtime. That way, the next bath time will be easier and less stressful for all concerned. And let’s face it, the more stress we can remove from our life, the better. You’re probably dealing with enough already. Why subject yourself to more? No need to. But it’s all up to you. Make the right call today!
