Dog Stroller

The top 10 benefits of dog strollers for your pet.

Using a pet stroller used to be something only the rich and famous did. People like Paris Hilton. A high fashion dog stroller can make a fashion statement for sure, but their function usually outweighs their fashion. But nowadays more and more people have been using them for all kinds of activities like running, jogging or even just transporting their pet over long distances. In this article we’re going to look at the top 10 benefits of having a dog stroller.

1. Sick or injured:
If your puppy is sick or injured and you still want to get out and get some fresh air and sunshine. Don’t leave you dog at home while you go for that mid day run, hike or walk. If your dog is sick, give them the great benefit of spending time with you and getting outdoors. What a great time for bonding. Just you and your pet enjoying the refreshing outdoors.

2. Small dogs:
Many times I see people taking small dogs for long walks. They do not realize that it’s not easy for a small or little dog to cover all that ground that we can. Their strides cover much less distance so they have to work sometimes 3 times as much just to cover that same distance. Using a dog stroller in this case would be perfect. Now you don’t have to make your pooch sit at home while you go for your 5 mile run! Take he or she right along with you but don’t put them through those tough, lengthy paces.

3. Veterinarian visits:
A perfect way to get your animal in and out of the vet office is to use a stroller. This way your dog will be less agitated and less excited during that whole process. But make sure you don’t use the stroller only when your canine or cat goes to the vet. You don’t want them associating the stroller with the stress and tension of a doctor’s visit. Get them used to the stroller and let them associate it with good, fun times in the outdoors.

4. Keep their paws from getting hot:
If you live anywhere hot like I do, you know that the pavement and asphalt can reach triple digits in the mid summer sun and heat. If you don’t have shoes, and the ground is scorching hot, you’re in trouble. Why make your dogs paw pads have to go through that. Why not use a stroller? Give their feet a break. They’d thank you 100 times over if they could. And you’ll be friends forever, it you aren’t already.

5. Keep your dog clean:
Let’s face it, dogs walk through puddles, drink gutter water, get wet and then roll around in the dirt and to top it all off, then they get in your car. This can all be alleviated by getting a nice pet stroller and keeping them clean, shiny, soft and smelling good. And just think of all the work you’ll save yourself when you get home. You won’t have clean up a dirty dog or a dirty car for that matter.

6. Very long runs or walks:
If you’re planning on going for a very long run or hike, sometimes a stroller comes in very handy. Or perhaps you’re in great shape but your dog is not and can’t last that long. You can bring the stroller along and use it only half the time and gradually get your dog in better shape rather than making them run 5 miles the very first time. Imagine if you had no choice and were subjected to that. He’s probably not a marathoner yet. Just be patient.

7. Safety from other dogs:
Not only does a pet stroller keep your dog safe from other dogs, but it also keeps other dogs safe from your dog and other people safe from your dog too. It’s a great learning and training tool as well. But you can go on a walk with peace of mind, knowing your dog is going to be contained and safe. You wouldn’t want your outing spoiled by an altercation. A stroller will protect everybody by prventing an occurrence before it happens.

8. Easier than dog carriers:
Dog strollers are much easier to use, manage and transport than pet carriers. With a pet carrier you have to actually carry it with you and they can get heavy with each passing minute. With a stroller it’s simple and easy to push and fun too. Not only is a stroller much lighter than a carrier, but it folds up nicely and takes up much less car space.  Certainly more convenient and less of a hassle.

9. Gatherings:
If you are having people over to your house or perhaps you’re going to an event or gathering, a stroller works perfect for allowing your dog to stay in one place. You don’t have to worry about them breaking their leash or running away. When you’re with other people you want to be to enjoy yourself without having to worry about whether your dog frees him or her self and creates an unnecessary ruckus.

10. Exercise:
This is the biggest benefit because it actually makes you healthier. If you have a doggy stroller and actually use it, it’ll make you fit and healthier because you’re running and walking and breathing fresh air. Nothing like pushing a stroller during a lengthy run to burn up those calories and keep yourself in excellent physical shape.
